Danny Armstrong
Danny’s career in the FirstRand Banking Group focused on people governance, negotiations, employment law and industrial relations. He currently serves as a trustee on the FirstRand Retirement Fund Board. Danny has also served on the Bankmed Board as a Trustee and a former Chairman. He believes he has the required experience, skills, time, and commitment to contribute positively to the Scheme. Danny’s passion and commitment to Bankmed the welfare of its active and pensioner members will always be at the forefront of everything he does. He holds Legal, HR and Management qualifications.
Myron Bailey
Myron is currently employed at First National Bank (FNB) Private Banking & Advisory as a Business Solutions Manager (Operational Client Analytics and Segmentation Team). Over his fourteen (14) years of experience in the Healthcare industry, Myron excelled in various analytics and specialist roles across Managed Care, Administration, Finance, and Technology areas. This included working with some of the largest client medical schemes in South Africa and Africa including GEMS, Polmed, Bonitas, and Medshield. He holds an Honours Degree in Financial Modelling and is currently a member of the Actuarial Society of South Africa.
Dinilesizwe Geya
Dinilesizwe is a qualified Chartered Accountant and an experienced Investment Banking professional with eighteen (18) years of experience in Corporate Finance, leveraged and mezzanine Finance, Corporate Debt, and Private Equity. Dinilesizwe started his career with audit articles at a “Big Four” firm before moving to Investment Banking. He is currently a Senior Investment Banker in leveraged Finance and Corporate Debt at a leading Investment Bank. In addition, he sits on an Investment Committee of an SME-financing fund.
Ahmed Haffejee
Ahmed is currently employed as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the South African Bank Note Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and is an alternate trustee to the SARB Retirement Fund. Over his twenty-eight (28) years he has taken on various senior roles, acquiring diverse skills and expertise. His previous positions include being CEO of Mondi Shanduka Newsprint and CFO of Mondi Packaging South Africa (Pty) Ltd now known as Mpact Limited. He has served as a Director on various Boards and as a trustee of pension funds. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science Degree, a Post-graduate Diploma in Specialised Accountancy and is a Chartered Accountant.
Komaseroto Kgaphola
Adv Kgaphola is currently employed at Sasbo -The Finance Union as a Regional Membership Services Officer. He has been in the banking industry for over seventeen (17) years. He started his career as a Customer Service Clerk at Absa bank in Cape Town. He later joined Nedbank as a Service Manager in a variety of business banking areas. In 2017 he joined Absa Commercial Bank as a Transactional Banker, ultimately becoming a Commercial Relationship Executive. He is an admitted Advocate of the High Court and holds an LLB Degree, BTech Degree in General Management, National Diploma in Administrative Management and a National Certificate in Banking, Banking and Financial Services Learning Programme.
Bongani Khumalo
Bongani is a tenacious individual who can identify opportunities and provide direction in the event of impediments, which has made him a valuable member of dynamic teams throughout his career. He has over sixteen (16) years of experience in the Core Banking and Financial Services, taking on various roles and acquiring diverse skills and expertise. He has deep experience of utilising corporate governance and regulatory environment as an enabler to achieve strategic goals. He is academically and professionally balanced, with a Masters in Business Administration. The insights from his dissertation have provided him with an advantage of addressing transformation issues facing many corporate environments in South Africa.
Siphokuhle Magodla
Siphokuhle is currently employed at the South African Reserve Bank as an Administrator: Management Support, specialising in Risk and Compliance Management for the Cash Centre. Over his nine (9) years at the bank, he has taken on various roles, acquiring diverse skills and expertise. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Regent Business School and is currently pursuing a Post-graduate Diploma in Risk Management from Management College of South Africa.
Thabiso Malematja
Thabiso is currently employed at Standard Bank (South Africa) as a Digital Platform Specialist. Over his six (6) years in the Core Banking and Financial Services area he has taken on various roles, acquiring diverse skills and expertise. He specialises in servicing Digital Platforms. He has a thorough understanding of digital solutions, including online banking and mobile banking. Thabiso holds a Post-graduate Diploma in IT Management, a National Certificate in Banking: Core Banking and Financial Services and a B.Com degree in Accounting and Finance.
Denise Mantle
Denise is a human resources professional who has worked in the banking industry for over forty (40) years. She is currently a member-elected Trustee of Bankmed and was previously an employer-nominated representative for Bankmed for almost ten (10) years. During this period, she served as Chairman of the Bankmed Board of Trustees for 3 years. She is also currently an elected member of the Board of Trustees for the Absa Pension Fund and has formerly served as an employer-appointed representative on the Absa Pension Fund Benefit Committee. Denise holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Bachelor of Business Management and Administration.
Vuyile Mbatha
Dr Vuyile is currently employed at Absa as a Head of Leadership Development, Learning, Talent Acquisition and Talent Management. Over twenty (20) years in Management, Human Capital, and Leadership industry, having acquired diverse skills and expertise across various geographies and organisations like Greater-Asia, India, Middle-East & Africa with Microsoft, Nokia, Vodacom, the British Government Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Naspers – Multichoice and with Absa for 4 years. Dr Vuyile holds a PhD in Business Management, a Masters in Business Leadership and a Masters in Business Administration, with a plethora of leadership qualifications from Ivy-League Institutions i.e., Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Yale, MIT and LSE to mention a few.
Thulane Nkabinde
Thulane is currently employed at Absa as a Team leader. He has over seventeen (17) years of experience in the banking industry, and he has taken on various roles, acquiring diverse skills and expertise. He holds a Diploma in Financial Accounting. He serves under the principles and values of honesty, integrity, strong moral and ethical behaviour. He is the current Vice President of the Institutional National Council of the Absa portfolio. His intention is to continue serving the working class and contribute to a future-led positive outcome.
Jacob Nkwana
Jacob is currently employed at First National Bank (FNB) as a Financial Planner. Over his eighteen (18) years in the banking industry he has taken on various roles, acquiring diverse skills and expertise. Jacob holds a B.Com (Accounting) degree from the University of Limpopo. He has established and built strong working relationship within the bank. He’s a dynamic, enthusiastic and results driven Individual who is passionate about complying with legislative governance and audit requirements while delivering exceptional customer service standards.
Henk Swanepoel
Henk is currently employed at Simeka Health as National Head of Consulting (previously Absa Healthcare Consultants). Over his thirty (30) years in the healthcare industry he has taken on various roles, acquiring diverse skills and expertise throughout this journey. He proudly remains a member of Bankmed. He has a B.Com (Law) and a B.Proc degree from the University of Pretoria, and he was admitted as an Attorney in 1989. He is very passionate about client services.
